After Bonoan gets a way out, Jinggoy Estrada vows to keep fighting until name is cleared

Senator Jinggoy Estrada is not backing down from his fight to clear him name in the flood control corruption scandal.

After the anti-graft court dropped plunder and graft raps against his co-accused former public works Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Estrada vowed to pursue legal remedies to assert his innocence in the charges.

“While I respect the decision of the Sandiganbayan, I wish to emphasize that there remain legal remedies available to me under our judicial system, which my legal team will carefully study and pursue at the appropriate time,” he said.

“I intend to avail myself of all remedies provided under our laws,” he said.

The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division has approved the prosecution’s motion to drop Bonoan from the list of the accused in the plunder and graft cases, clearing the way for former Cabinet member to turn state witness.

According to Estrada, this development is far from the end of his legal battle.

“I will continue to place my trust in due process and the rule of law. My faith in our judicial system remains firm,” he said.

“I will continue to stand by the truth and pursue every lawful means available to protect my rights and clear my name and honor,” he added.

The senator is currently detained in Quezon City jail following his arrest on plunder and graft charges tied to the alleged flood control kickbacks.

Bonoan was then among his co-accused who had been arrested.
