Vice President Sara Duterte is reminding barangay officials and the youth to keep communities strong and united not let politics, criminality and drugs get in the way.
The country’s veep stressed the importance of peace as crucial to attaining progress when she attending a local fiesta in Surigao del Sur last month. Details of Duterte’s local trip were revealed on Thursday, August 27, via social media.
“Ikinagagalak ng aking puso na makasama ang ating mga kababayan mula sa Barangay Bigaan, Surigao del Sur, sa mismong araw ng pagdiriwang nila ng ika-18 na Araw ng Bigaan at 65th Patronal Fiesta ng Mother of Perpetual Help noong nakalipas na buwan.
“Naging mensahe natin sa kanila ang kahalagahan ng kapayapaan, na siyang susi tungo sa tunay na kaunlaran,” she asid.
“Hinikayat din natin ang bawat opisyal ng barangay at ang kabataan na huwag hayaang masira ng politika, terorismo, insurhensiya, kriminalidad, at ilegal na droga ang kanilang pagkakaisa,” she said.
In her visit, she also reminded the importance of education in helping attain a better future.
Meantime, she thanked the community for supporting the programs of the Office of the Vice President (OVP). “Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas—para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at sa bawat Pamilyang Pilipino,” she said.
