Galit si BBM? Toby Tiangco: No talks with Marcos since March, no more Sunday lunch invites

The ties between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco have grown strained, and the Sunday lunch invitations have stopped coming too.

Tiangco admitted that he no longer has communication with the President, saying he has not spoken with Marcos since March.

“Kay President BBM, huli kaming nagkita I think in January. Huli kaming nag-usap is end of March. Tapos hindi na kami nagkausap,” he said during the Bilyonaryo News Channel’s “The Spokes” on Wednesday.

The cold treatment toward the Tiangcos also spilled into the weekly Marcos family gathering.

Tiangco said he and his Michelle Romualdez, cousin of the President, are no longer invited to the Sunday lunches at the presidential residence.

Tiangco added that he could understand being left out himself because he is not a Marcos relative, he found it odd that his wife was also being shut out.

“Hindi na kami imbitado. Pati nga yung wife ko. Ako okay lang hindi naman ako yung kamag-anak nila di ba. Pati yung wife ko yun ang pinsan buo nila hindi na rin siya imbitado,” he said.

Asked this indicated the Marcoses were not happy with him, Tiangco said: “I think so.”

Tiangco’s ties with former Speaker Martin Romualdez have also grown cold. Tiangco said they last spoke during the President’s State of the Nation Address in 2025.

Tiangco earlier chose to sit as an independent in the 20th Congress, refusing to join either the House majority or minority bloc. His decision came amid his criticism of alleged budget insertions in the 2025 national budget.
