Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque does not know of any corruption or human rights cases filed against former senator and presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Roque, running for senator in the 2022 elections, issued the remark during a Marcos-Duterte sortie at the Batangas Provincial Capitol on Thursday.
“Bilang isang abogado, sinisigurado ko sa inyo, wala akong nakitang kahit anong kaso pagdating sa pandarambong o paglabag ng karapatang tao laban kay Bongbong Marcos,” the human rights lawyer said.
Marcos Jr., he added, was only 15 when his father imposed martial law that resulted in thousands of extrajudicial killings, tortures, and other human rights abuses.
“Sa mga tumutol sa panahon ng administrasyon ng kanyang ama, 15 years old po si Bongbong Marcos ng 1972,” according to him.
Meanwhile, Roque defended his decision to run for senator under the Marcos-Duterte ticket despite being a candidate of the Peoples’ Reform Party.
“Wala naman pong ibang umangkin sa akin at umampon. Sino ba naman ako para humindi sa pag-ampon ng UniTeam?” he said referring to the alliance formed by four political parties to endorse the tandem of Marcos Jr. and vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte-Carpio.
