Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte is urging the country’s new crop of lawyers to serve with humility, integrity, and commitment to justice.
Duterte made the appeal to the 2023 Bar passers as she extended her congratulations for their remarkable feat. Recognizing the years of hard work and sacrifices, she commended the lawyers for their resilience in the face of challenges.
Out of 10,387 takers, 3,812 emerged triumphant in the 2023 Bar exams. Ephraim Porciuncula Bie of the University of Santo Tomas claimed the top spot in the Bar exams with a grade of 89.26 percent.
“Congratulations to the men and women who have successfully passed the 2023 Philippine Bar Examinations. Ang tagumpay na ito ay tagumpay ng inyong pagsisikap, sakripisyo, at katatagan sa harap ng paghihirap at mga pagsubok,” the Vice President said.
“May you serve our fellow Filipinos and the country with humility, integrity, and a commitment to uphold justice, protect rights, and advocate for those who seek the shelter of the law,” she said.
Duterte, former mayor of Davao City, is a law graduate from San Beda College. She passed the Bar in 2005.
In the same message, the Vice President sought cooperation in building a fair and inclusive society.
“Let us work together to build a society that embraces diversity, fairness, justice, and inclusivity. Lahat—para sa Diyos, bayan, at bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” she said.
